Size- Women's medium- 8 inches around.
Materials- super bulky yarn; approx 66 yards.
Double point needles size 11 or what ever size gets the gauge.
I used Biggie Print by Rowan. The suggested gauge for this yarn is 1 1/4 stitches to the inch, but I
knitted it at a tighter gauge so that the mittens would be longer wearing and warmer. They are still very soft!
Some other super bulky yarns are Burly spun by Brown Sheep, Fisherman Bulky by Bartlettyarn, and
Magnum by Cascade.
Gauge- In circular stockinet stitch, 9 sts equal 4
inches.

Round 1- inc, k to within 2 sts of end of round, inc, k 1.
Rounds 2 and 3- k.
Repeat these 3 rounds 2 more times, 22 stitches.
Divide for thumb-
K to within 3 sts of end of round, slip next 6 sts onto a length of yarn to hold for thumb. (3 sts from this needle and 3 from the next needle).
Cast 2 sts onto the right needle. Place a safety pin in the next stitch on the left needle, this stitch is the first stitch of the round.
Join work and k around to the marked stitch.
At this point, rearrange the stitches by slipping them as follows-
Needle one- 5 sts.
Needle two- 4 sts.
Needle three- 9 sts.
Hand-
K every round on these 18 sts for 3 3/4 more inches.

Now work the decrease round( round 1) on every
round until 6 sts are left, Break yarn, and using a darning needle, gather remaining stitches and weave in ends.
Thumb-
Slip the 6 thumb stitches from their length of yarn onto 2 needles. Using a third needle, pick up 4 stitches on the hand side of thumb opening, placing a marker after 2. This is the beginning of the round.
K 1 round on these 10 stitches.
Next round- k 2 tog, k to end of round.
K around on these 9 sts until the thumb measures 2 1/2 inches from where you picked up the stitches.
